DIY Peach Freezer Jam Without Pectin
5:03 PM
Here is a fabulous peach freezer jam recipe my wonderful mother-in-law gave me, and the best part is that you don't have to use pectin! Pectin can be costly so it's nice to not have to use it in this recipe.
Pick Peaches. The house we just bought happens to have a peach tree so we are lucky.
Prepare the peaches. Here is a simple trick my mother-in-law shared with me on how to peel the peaches quickly and easily. Boil water and add peaches. Let them boil for about 6 minutes.
Strain peaches in sink.
Gently rub your finger across the peach and the skin will just fall off.
Gently squeeze the peach and it should break in half allowing you to discard the pit.
At this point you can bottle peach halves or go on to make the jam.
Mash or blend the peaches to your preference. I like it smooth so I chose the blender.
Pour into a big pot and finish the recipe.
Peach Jello Freezer Jam
6 C fruit mashed
3 C sugar
Mix and bring to a boil. Boil for 3 minutes.
Add 2 pkg. of 3oz Peach Jello
1 T lemon juice - optional
Stir till dissolved, pour into small containers, freeze.
With our extra peach mush, we divided it into ice cube trays, froze them, and transferred them into freezer baggies to put in peach shakes for later. You could also make peach baby food!
