Chili to the Bones
1:27 PM
Just in time for Halloween!
Here's a fabulous Chili and Breadsticks recipe (thanks to my friend Carly) for those days when you feel "chili to the bones"
Chili
1 lb ground beef
1/2 onion chopped
1 clove garlic, finely chopped
2 cans stewed tomatoes, undrained
1 can tomato sauce
1 T chili powder
3/4 tsp ground cumin
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 can kidney beans, undrained
1 can pinto beans, undrained
Topping: shredded cheese, sour cream, fritos, whatever else.
Directions:
In a skillet cook beef and drain. Sauté onions and garlic with meat. Add everything into a crock-pot. Cook on low for 4-6 hours. Serve with toppings.
Bones (breadsticks)
1 C warm water
1 pkg yeast
1 tsp Sugar
2 T oil
1 tsp salt
2 1/2 C flour
Directions:
Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add sugar and oil, stirring to mix. Add salt. Add flour and mix until dough forms a ball. Add more flour if sticky. Let dough rise 30-40 minutes. Roll dough out and slice into "bones" with a pizza cutter and transfer to baking sheet. Smother in melted butter and sprinkle with garlic salt and parmesan cheese if you desire. Bake at 350 for about 10 minutes until browning.

this looks so good right now! it is super chilly in Rexburg today!
ReplyDeleteThat looks so yummy! It looks a lot like the chili we make. And we add strips of tortillas at the end. Might try that. : )
