DIY: King Size Bed - All Instructions

Part 1 - Plans and Center Storage
Good Luck!!
Stephanie
Sisters Meg and Steph discovered that while living the life of poor, newlywed, college students, with fresh little babies in the middle of The Great Recession they could still have what they needed and wanted if they got to work and created things with their own hands. This mindset has saved them thousands of dollars in living expenses, and as they share their knowledge with others, the savings keeps growing.

I wish this was for a queen - any possibility you may know the plans for a queen?
ReplyDeleteFortunately, all bed sizes are uniform. Find the measurements for a standard queen size bed, and adjust your cuts accordingly.
DeleteI agree... how about Queen dimensions, and even twin? That would be awesome! Thanks :)
ReplyDeleteCan you share how the feet were attached to the headboard and footboard?
ReplyDeleteHubby drilled a 3/4" diameter hole through about half the depth of the foot. Then drilled a pilot hole through the remainder of the foot. He then used a lag screw to secure it to the bed.
DeleteAlso, he tried to use at least two lag screws per foot.
DeleteYes, yes, yes ---Queen size please~~!!
ReplyDeleteCan this be easily disassembled and reassembled? I would love to make something like this but because we are in the military, we move quite a bit.
ReplyDeleteIt is pretty easy to assemble with two people. The most difficult thing about it is how heavy it is.
DeleteHow much did it cost to do?
ReplyDeleteI believe it was $500 for all the materials.
DeleteThanks for the info. Do you have an idea of how heavy it is?
ReplyDeleteI don't know how heavy it is but I'm a small gal and my husband is a very average guy and we have managed to heft it wherever we need it. It's a tough job but doable.
DeleteAny idea how much weight it holds? We are thinking about buying something similar for our queen waterbed. We could probably just change the dimensions a bit for the size we need. It looks like it should be easy to change the size if we decide to build it. But I am concerned about the weight. We just cleaned up a waterbed spill this past week. I don't want to have to do another one for a long time. :) - Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI don't know how much weight it can hold but I do know that this is a very solid bed, probably more heavy duty than any you can buy from a local furniture store. I think it will work well for what you need.
DeleteHow charming the blog and its contents too.!!!
ReplyDeleteI like this..!!Buy single or double mattress
